Thanks to funding from the Community Preservation Act (CPA), two historic Jamaica Plain churches and a beloved community garden are getting some much-needed care and restoration.The CPA supports projects that create or preserve affordable housing, protect historic resources, and enhance open spaces and recreation areas.St. John’s Episcopal Church (1 Roanoke Ave.) and The First Church in Jamaica Plain (6 Eliot St.) have been awarded CPA funds to carry out structural repairs. The First Church will receive $550,000, while St. John’s Episcopal is set to receive $457,771.Additionally, the Egleston Square Peace Garden will benefit from CPA funding aimed at improving open spaces.
